【於慶中／綜合外電報導】北美洲受到「極地渦漩」(Polar Vortex)冷空氣襲擊，氣溫屢探新低，已經造成21人死亡，與至少50億美元(約台幣1500億元)的經濟損失，這兩天就連「世界最大瀑布」、位於美國與加拿大邊界五大湖區的尼加拉大瀑布(Niagara Falls)，都禁不住這波低溫而凍結成冰。

尼加拉大瀑布結冰的景象極為壯觀，已經吸引大批攝影愛好者前往捕捉這難得的景象。根據英國《太陽報》的統計，從有文獻記載以來，美國境內的尼加拉大瀑布結冰的紀錄在這次之前只有6次。
