英國皇家植物園　最小睡蓮失竊

【國際中心／綜合外電報導】英國警方表示，倫敦皇家植物園(Royal Botanic Gardens)9日發生一起竊盜案，一株瀕臨絕種的世界最小睡蓮失竊。

這株種植在溫室淺水池的侏儒盧旺達睡蓮(Nymphaea thermarum)是世界上最小的睡蓮，它的葉子直徑只有1公分左右，由於自然棲息地受到破壞，數年前面臨絕種威脅，2009年植物園成功復育，目前園內約有50株。

侏儒盧安達睡蓮的花瓣為乳白色，花心乳黃色，1987年在盧安達發現，生長範圍侷限於幾平方公尺大的潮濕土壤，由於當地人濫用泉水灌溉田地，導致泉水乾涸，睡蓮因而滅絕。
