表態參選高雄市長　楊秋興：確定朝這個方向

【汪智博／台東報導】政務委員楊秋興今天利用休假專程赴東海岸勘查「鄉村旅店」發展可行性，上午搭火車抵達台東站，向媒體表示：經過一陣子思考後，「我確定要朝這個方向（參選高雄市長）走！」強調雖是辛苦的一戰，但是要承擔，「我輸在起跑點，要贏在終點。」
 
楊秋興表示，個人參選意願部分「我已經和黨部高層溝通的很清楚。」，至於何時接受國民黨徵召，都將視黨部作業程序而定。楊也坦言：「這是很辛苦的一戰，現在相當劣勢。」，希望雖輸在起跑點，但要贏在終點，還有一年時間，有很大的成長空間。
