【黎建忠／綜合報導】「世界球王」伍茲(Tiger Woods)帶著許多球迷的期望挑戰今年的美國公開賽，沒想到他4天來始終搞不清果嶺速度和坡度，繳出高於標準13桿的293桿，並列第32名作收，這個桿數也創下伍茲參加4大賽晉級後的生涯最差成績，賽後他也向滿場的費城球迷道歉。

伍茲在2006年的美國公開賽，前2回合都繳出76桿，總計以高於標準12桿的成績遭到淘汰，這原本是他參加美國公開賽的最差桿數，沒想到今年又再度「破了紀錄」，而伍茲繳出的293桿，也是他轉職業後，在美國公開賽的最高桿數。伍茲說：「很遺憾，事情不是我想像的那樣，我作了很多對的事情，但也做錯了一些事，這些都值得我學習。」
