雷恩葛斯林對角色有想法，新片「末路車神」中詮釋為了家人生計，不惜犯下搶案的浪子特技車手，他接受兩個月特訓及健身課程，還主動建議導演戴瑞克席安弗蘭斯在他臉上及全身畫滿刺青，他解釋：「我的角色既自卑又衝動，刺青很符合我要的感覺，它讓我感到羞恥，但另一方面也是一種宣示。」他除要求刺青，一場在教堂看到片中兒子受洗的畫面，激動到大哭，讓導演及同場的女友伊娃曼德斯都跟著落淚。
