一項追蹤美國就業趨勢的指數於5月小幅上升，但是並沒有證據顯示，夏季期間，徵人會大幅加速。

工商協進會的5月就業趨勢指數(ETI)上升至111.76，4月為111.11。

儘管較一年前高了3%，但該指數仍大幅低於接近125的衰退前高點。

「儘管5月就業趨勢指數上升，清除了前二個月小幅下降的降幅，但整體而言，ETI指數的成長仍然疲弱，」工商協進會研究主管Gad Levanon說。「與近來其他的經濟活動指標合併觀察，ETI顯示今年夏季，就業成長不太可能大幅改善。」
